Doing Business with Us
More than just business
Our mission is to help groups make good decisions. In addition to fee-for-service work, we provide many group decision-making tools for free: Tips, Handouts and Links. When you do business with us, we want you to be aware of these resources and take advantage. Also, we give money to help the Earth, specifically environmental and social justice causes. The first 1% of every dollar we earn goes to charitable nonprofits.
We really believe in making our world better by helping groups make better decisions and by supporting worthy charities. See our Mission and Values page to learn more and the specific charities that we recently supported.
Scheduling
Call or write anytime to inquire about our availability. Craig’s calendar is particularly challenging so if you want Craig for a particular date, contact us as far in advance as possible.
We expect scheduling commitments to be honored. When we say yes to you for a particular date, we say no to other clients. Still, we understand that unforeseen circumstances might arise after committing to a particular date and you might have to cancel or postpone. If you postpone or cancel after we have agreed to terms, we expect to be paid all incurred expenses. The first time this happens, we expect to be paid 1/4 of the estimated service fees. Thereafter when you cancel or postpone, we expect to be paid 1/2 the estimated service fees. If you cancel within 72 hours of the start time of the meeting or after the meeting was planned to start, we expect to be paid in full as if the meeting had happened.
If we cancel anytime after we have agreed to terms, we provide results of all work to date and charge nothing (not even for expenses incurred).
Fees
For meetings, training sessions or keynote addresses we generally apply fixed fees. For consulting or flexible scopes of work we generally apply hourly rates.
We have worked hard to establish fair fees and to define a "sustainable workload;” that is, how much work we can take on and maintain excellent service for our customers and maintain reasonable work hours for Craig and our Associates. If your project would require us to work beyond our sustainable workload we will offer you three choices: work with us in the future when we are not so busy, work with an alternative Associate who is more immediately available, or pay higher fees akin to time and a half.
Our fixed fees depend on the length and complexity of the meeting, training, or keynote; whether you work with Craig or an Associate; and if a Complete Report is required or not. Fixed fees cover all services and are set in advance no matter how much effort we put into the job. Additional charges are added for travel time, travel expenses, and other out-of-pocket expenses at cost. If your project requires additional work beyond the fixed fee scope of service we will apply our normal hourly rates and if such work puts us over our sustainable workload, such rates will be applied at time and a half.
From time to time you may have the opportunity to work with a Good Group Decisions Apprentice. Our Apprentice pricing allows you to get a meeting facilitated for as little as $100 while also providing an aspiring facilitator with some great experience. In many cases our Apprentice Facilitators are highly skilled and respected professionals in their field, simply looking to gain facilitation experience in the style of Good Group Decisions.
We are happy to participate in an advance planning meeting or "get to know each other" meeting at no charge if the job doesn't materialize.
Please call to discuss your project and we will gladly provide a cost estimate.
