Leigh Tillman
Leigh Tillman records meetings and assists with facilitation as an Apprentice Facilitator. Leigh has a diverse background and a variety of skills in teaching and community project management. She highly values the art of recognizing all the perspectives at the table and the intentional crafting of a vision’s direction.
After completing a degree in Anthropology and Creative Writing at Connecticut College, Leigh spent the majority of the past decade in cultural contexts other than the one in which she grew up, including:
- Studying anthropology and assisting a Heifer Project Natural Resource Management Assessment in Tanzania
- Studying navigation/oceanography and crewing on yachts in the South Pacific and the Sargasso Sea
- Helping Philippine University students further their efforts to create art, dance, sports, and music classes for youth in Ilocos Norte, Philippines
- Helping with the tsunami relief effort in Southeast India and with post-Katrina rebuilding in New Orleans and Violet, Louisiana
- Working at a consensus-based Quaker summer camp
- Working the Alaskan Salmon Season, fishing and hanging (i.e. making) fishing nets
- Traveling throughout New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, India, Morocco, the Caribbean, and Latin America
- Studying and teaching yoga and living in yogic communities in India, Thailand, and Mexico
- Starting up an organic farming project in rural Maine

Living and working in these communities has helped Leigh recognize the relativity of perspectives, leading to her interest in meeting facilitation, the manner of group dialogue, and building awareness of how individuals collaborate.
Leigh is particularly interested in developing facilitation expertise for culturally diverse stakeholder groups, team building, conflict resolution and problem solving, and strategic planning.
Leigh currently lives in Portland, Maine where she teaches yoga and gets out to surf as often as she can. With a background in farming, she tends vines at a local vineyard and enjoys spending time in her own vegetable plot.
